Biography

For a Global Culture of Peace

Annelise Jarvis Hansen´s art is deeply rooted in Nordic metaphysical values. She is expecially involved in the very interesting and
complex problems of attaining a condition of "coexistence" of antagonistic forces of harmony and discord within the framework
of a single canvas, her ingeniously structured dualistic tension" becomes a new kind of aesthetic experience.

Her introspective world is represented pluralistically, at times through objective reality, at times through symbolic abstractions which
evoke poetic, enigmatic states of mind and existential equivalent. Annelise´s art excellently represents the very interesting contemporary
tendency towards creating an ambiguous art that is simultaneously ideational and sensate. She works in diferent medias, oilpaint, acryl,
graphics and video.

She received a BFA in 1975 and was appointed ambassador in 2006 of the Art Center College of Design, Los Angeles, and obtained
a BFA from the University of Copenhagen in philosophy in 1984. She has travelled and exhibited in many countries around the world
and she has attended many United Nations conferences on Art and Culture. She founded a NGO "KIK-Kulturel Information  Koordination"
in 1980 at the UN conference on Women in Copenhagen Task Force on Women, Peace and Security-Womens Rights.
She works with other NGOs on UNESCO´s Culture of Peace program, for the arts to promote a culture of peace globally.

Annelise lived the first part of her life in Copenhagen Denmark. Then she came to Los Angeles with her husband David Jarvis in 1968
www.davidjarvisart.com. They studied painting with Lorsor Feitelson and . at the Art Center College of Design, where
she earned a BFA in 1975. She moved to New York for some years, and worked with the New York CETA Artproject for the Westchester’s
Partners in the Arts, and exhibited in NY galleries. She lives mostly in Copenhagen but also in New York and travels to Los Angeles, where
she exhibits. Her paintings are included in Women of the World: A Global Collection of Art owned by Richard C. Colton Jr.  www.wowf.org.
